A journalist's 79 days in prison

By Channel 4 News

It is now nearly three months since Iran's disputed elections which prompted street protests across the country.

In the weeks following the election thousands of opposition supporters, political figures and journalists were arrested and detained without trial or access to lawyers.

Human rights groups say around 400 poeple remain in detention, many of whom have had little or no contact with lawyers.

Canadian-Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari, Newsweek's correspondent in Tehran, an award-winning filmaker and regular contributor to Channnel 4 News, was detained on June 21 after reporting on the election protests.

Since that time he has been held in solitary confinement, denied access to a lawyer and has only been allowed two visits from his family.
