Iran:Riot in tehran streets after election day"Death to the dictator!"

more news over the Facebook

>>> Supporters of the main election challenger to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad clashed with police and set up barricades of burning tires today as authorities declared the hard-line president was re-elected in a landslide. Opponents responded with the most serious unrest in the capital in a decade and charges that the result was the work of a "dictatorship."

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, closed the door on any chance he could use his limitless powers to intervene in the disputes from Friday's election. In a message on state TV, he urged the nation to unite behind Ahmadinejad, calling the result a "divine assessment."

>>>Thousands of angry people have massed in Tehran to protest at the election result, with some pelting stones at baton-wielding police."Down with the dictator!" shouted the crowd as they streamed into one of the capital's main squares after latest results showed incumbent hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had secured a landslide win.

Hundreds of other people also gathered near the interior ministry in central Tehran, shouting: "Death to the dictator!"

A furious mob threw stones at police who hit back with sticks to try to disperse demonstrators gathered around central Tehran's Vanak Square.Protesters, including women, were also hit with sticks in Tehran's Valiasr Street as riot police on motorbikes moved in to break up a gathering outside Mr Mousavi's office.

This election cannot stand, the people voted and now corruption has ruled against them. We hope they fight this rigged election-but then again the US did the same thing in 2001 and 2004. This will not free Iran from a corrupt dictator who is bent on nuclear war, the people are fighting for reform, and women's rights in an oppressed society - we hope they win this fight. The winner will not enjoy his corrupt win.

I hope the people of Iran get freedom and throw away the dictator, the Ayatollah´s so they can become a normal country and not a country that have a stoneage way to think!
Offcoure the election were manipulated. What do you think with a man like that in charge!?

Become apart of the modern world!

The Ayatollah´don´t wan´t the best for their people. Let the people get in charge!

What country is Iran where thay forbid internet and close it down, close the mobile phone service, where they attack thir own people and let religios leaders decide what´s right and wrong.

Sounds like Europe 600 years ago!!

Now is your chance. Take it! The world is waiting for the Iranian people to become a part of the modern world.

They did it in Romania, Poland, East Germany, Russia, Bolivia, Ukraina etc....Can you do it??

I... really dont know what to say. Im Palestinian, and i know how it feels to have your rights taken away from you, but I am torn. Ahmadinajad has spoken against oppression so openly, he has helped one of the best resistance groups hold their ground against a cruel oppressor.

There is really only one way to find out. The Iranian ppl are not the cowardly type, they will fight for what is right, not what is easy. They did before, and took down the Shah; could the Islamic Revolution have gone sour? if thats the case, then it needs to be changed. My only fear is that these revolutionaries are not fighting for the right leader, but one that is giving them fake promises, and if America is backing him, then that may be true.

America is not ur friend Iran, they tricked u once and gave u a shah, they will do it again in a heartbeat. And this time they may call it a democracy.

please, whoever wants to talk about this please email me; I think i can safely say that i speak for all palestinians when i say, we dont know wat to think.

HEADBANGED People in Iran!
The foundation of democracy is to accept it when you lost an election against the majority - and not to build another tyranny with a mob of criminals.

I don't like Ahmadinedschad, but when watching these pictures of anarchy, I believe he is the best choice for Iran: They get what they deserve!

And I hope these violence, terrorist criminals on the street will be punished! Every stone thrower: Cut up the hands!

it is interesting to note that so far no one mentioned that one way to weaken Iran is to have it break up based on the ethnic divide, and having an azeri as president will make that breakup much sooner and more probable. MAYBE I AM MISSING SOMETHING, BUT FORMER USSR AND YUGOSLAVIA ARE VERY GOOD EXAMPLES.

Thank you for your news.
As an Iranian living outside Iran I admire the brave youg iranians who are taking cpntrol of their destiny.
In the absence of any ligitimate leader for your movement, you need to take control of the movement yourself. I have some suggestions, if I may:
- You need to safely show that you are in a larg number. The method that you show must not be dangerous so more people can join you.
- I suggest you go to the building roofs, say at 9pm every day, and rais your voice with a common slogan. Again something very safe, like "Allah o Akbar", In this way the goverment have less reason to arrest you.
- When you show eachother that your number is very high, you can arrange demonstrations.
- Don't rely too much on Mousavi or the like, they cannot do much.
- Take care.

Now Iran has their own 'Pres. Bush', whom they have elected twice, maybe in the long run, this will give the general population more empathy for their counterparts in the U.S. who made the same mistake twice. It seems like Ahmadinejad will push the pendulum so far to the right in his country, that it will be bound to swing back harder, later.

I know it's easier said than done, but what can you do but stay positive, and organize now for the next election?

I don't think you realize the importance of this website. Official websites and the television offer absolutely nothing in the United States. The difference between the 1999 riots and this one is that now there is more than just professional journalists, there is this! This website and others like http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/13/iran-demonstrations-viole_n_215189.html are windows to Iran's somber home. Please dont give up, please be safe, love and hope

They are so cruel to Muslim Women. That is not nice.

I hope Iranians and Azerbaijani will make this fake election collapse

Was the election fixed? What are the signs of that? Otherwise, isn't this just people who's candidate lost the election acting upset and criminal? It seems like people who didn't want to lose now getting violent because they lost, or?

I certainly don't think President Bush would lie to the people about election results like Ahmadinejad has done. I don't think President Bush would attempt to steal an election as Ahmadinejad has done. Nor would President Bush have shut down opposition communications, arrested political opponents, or sent police to disperse crowds supporting his opponents as Ahmadinejad has done.

When you compare the two men, Bush is by far the more honest and fair political leader. I'm sad to say that but it is the truth.

I am continually appalled at how a small number of people in this world can bring such hardship upon so many. I hope that Iranians can have a FAIR election that they deserve as a basic human right. I wish you all safety, fairness and success. As for bloggers and others who risk their safety to inform us, Thank you. I hope the rest of us can do our part by increasing awareness and help spread international pressure through peaceful protest or even telling our friends and family.

I am not a supporter of Mussavi or Ahmadi but all for freedon and democracy in Iran. However, what is so funny about this election in Iran is how come that they were able to count all these manual votes within one day, when a normal work takes about a month to be processed in this country? Even in the US counting votes that are via computer takes about a week to finalize. This morning they said in the new that they maybe recount the votes and it will take about 10 days...hmmm..now suddenly counting manual votes take 10 days??? Isn't this funny?

I think the best way to objct to the injustice of Islamic republic is using GANDHI"S ' STRATEGY . Peace and non violence or " Non-REACTION".

If all the people who voted for Moosavo wear "WHITE CLOTHING "
( reminder of peace to themselves and to the worlds" and walk in the streets around the world while holding the feeling of PEACE and freedom in their HEARTS. THIS WAY WE ARE USING THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE. Then watch the effect of this divine energy all over the world !!!!! By feeling the peace inside of us, we will bring it out to the physical.... " BE THe CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN TH E WORLD, Gandhi "

Islamic republic might be able to hide te number of votes but this way they CAN NOT hide the number of people in the streets . Gandhi's strategy is a higher conscousness way to deal with any injustic.

If you agree please forward this to all Iranian BLOGS , Twitters, etc....

Thank you...Elham

By pure sympaty to your cause I need to tell you all, iranian people : FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE !

You have an unbeliavable chance to get rid of your society worthy of the dark ages centuries ago. You seem to awake from a too long sleep.
Hurry up, wake up ! Do not let this opportunity slip away unless you accept to be slaves. You and your descendants.

Reject your official evil leaders, your sinful president and also that old spiritual devil. They are lying to you. If you believe them then you accept to give up your life for ever. Get rid of this outrageous retarded society system.
Congratulation and courage to you.

The truth about the election is clear and obvious. So, where are these disputes coming from? Who are these protestors? I found a great article describing what is actually going on in Iran and why the metropolitan areas are up in arms:

Hell to the tyranny government.

Iranian's are birthing their democracy.

Unknown said...

If democracy comes in the way of people Like George Bush, Tony Blair, Barrack Obama, Gordan Brown & Co, Id rather be burning in a hole...Stop burying your heads in the sand when America kills hundreds of thousands of civilians and then jumping up when the west wants you to help with their power hungry agenda in the middle east...the election was not rigged, what a coincidence, America hates Iran, and then it all erupts inside of itself..and without proof! the world reports a rigged election .agents were placed for a long time, the people don't know what their fighting for..if they want to become like the west, they are mental.

Mr Turkic Resistance...and other brainwashed "people" that talk bad about democracy.

You don´t know what democracy is.

Welcome to Sweden---. And other nice places on earth.

This is paradise compared to your countries. We even take on your people in thousands that flew your countries...years back....refugees fron Iran, Irak, Somalia, Lebanon, Turkey, Liberia...etc...

Why don´t thay get home??

Offcourse they have it better here. For once and for all. This is 2009.
Change your countries to democracy and live like normal people!!
Otherwise all your smart citizens will live here soon.

Why do religion always the cause war!? This is amazing! And stupid!

Only weak people belive in others then themself. That will weaken soceity. And voila....look were you are right now!

Belive in yourself instead of what someone else tell you to belive in!

The world would be a better place! But probably the human kind will be erased by the future weather, lack of food etc...before some countries get it...thet peace is better then war!

Will there just be 2 people on heart left....only 2....they would probably hate each other because of their religious belives...and kill each other....Then the earth will be free of the stupid human race....

I bet that in 300 years there will be NO peace in the middle east! This will never happen!

Good luck! Go out an kill each other.

Salaam to all Brothers and Sisters in Iran,

Its heart wrenching to see so many people being hurt physically and emotionally. Those who are protesting are unknowingly acting on behalf of the enemies of the peaceful nation Iran. The only people who are benefiting from this are those who have been either covertly trying to destabilize Iran for a long time. Whats happening is dream come true for those people. Iranians are one of the highly intellectual and one of the most well mannered community in the world. The protesting youngsters must understand whats going on in the world.

Here is some more practical protest advice. Use cloth soaked in vinegar covered over the mouth and nose to briefly protect from tear gas. Make body armor out of plastic buckets. Simply cut the pieces to cover your chest, back, stomach, and shoulders out of a bucket. Then flatten the pieces and connect them with pieces of tubes from the inside of bicycle tires. Get and use helmets, bike helmets, motorcycle helmets, whatever you can find. They will help keep you from sustaining injuries from head wounds. Keep struggling! No government will give you freedom! Long live autonomy (no leaders), the true liberty! Wear black to signify that you have no allegiance to any government, only an allegiance to freedom and autonomy!

Long live the principals of Anarchy and self-governing bodies!

I really like your blog and I wanted you to know about our new website, timelines.com, where we've started a timeline about the 2009 Iranian presidential elections at http://timelines.com/topics/2009-iranian-presidential-election. Our idea is to create an interactive historical record of anything and everything, based on specific events that combine to form timelines. We're trying to achieve a sort of user-created multimedia encyclopedia, in which no event is too big and no event is too small, and where each event can contain various types of resources, such as video, images, maps, etc. It's also a good way to direct traffic to your blog because your events will pop up along with anything else that's thematically related.
